WR Carpenter own over six plantations in the western highlands of Papua New Guinea, in the Jiwaka Province. More than 5000 tonnes of green coffee beans are cultivated and harvested worldwide to countries like USA, Australia, Japan, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Korea, UK, Taiwan, Singapore, Switzerland.
Plantation: Our plantations are situated in the most idyllic coffee growing conditions amongst volcanic soils, at 5000 feet above sea level. The coffee plants are exclusively
Arabica, concentrating on the Typica varieties, which originated from seeds introduced to Papua New Guinea from the well-known Jamaica Blue Mountain rootstock. Using two varieties of trees, the plantation employs a medium density shade strategy. Shade grown coffee promotes even ripening of coffee cherries while providing a habitat for at least 90 species of birds on the estates.
Over 3000 hectare of coffee cherry is harvested across the estates which undergo a vigorous wet factory process at the plantation’s wet mill itself. All growing and processing practices are followed meticulously to ensure the highest standards and quality of coffee beans are maintained at every stage.
